I can see you!

Some interesting fallout from the Google Street View's Privacy-B-Gone mode. Slashdot picked up a Wired story about some privacy complaints from the picture-taking-van, as well as Wired finding a lot of interesting features from the photos.

Unfortunately, Denver, CO, is the closest place to me with Street View enabled.

I've seen a van drive around our subdivision with cameras, but so far no luck finding front views of our house online, which may not be a bad thing.

Let's see if I get this straight. People are upset because two dimensional images can be taken of their homes or care (or even them if they're in a public place)?

Wow, maybe we should have squashed this technology back during its commercial introduction, say around the Civil War?

Another insidious technology introduced into the past by Bill Gates and his nefarious Time Machine.

Right! Don't tell anybody, but I think I SAW somebody the other day when I was walking down the sidewalk. And if I remember them....

Fast forward to the day when Google Street View is updated in real time.

You could track anybody, anytime, anywhere. People would know when your house is empty, or when just the wife is home. They could follow your kids to a park.

Should that be allowed? Do we need new laws for this?

I'd like to see pictures of the Google Van taken by another Google Van.

What's funny is that there isn't much of a problem for corporations, et al, to take pictures of citizens, but I wonder what kind of response would come from someone standing outside the Google facility taking pictures?

Here at work I got busted by security taking pictures of a friend's car in the parking lot at lunch. Luckily I had a camera pass from my PictBridge testing.

You asked for it...

Google van taking a picture of...Google van.

I wonder if there is one van per city and they use Travelling Salesman algorithm to hit every street or multiple vans break up a city into districts to scan?

When the van comes to Austin, you should take a day off work and follow it and try to get in as many shots as possible.
