My start was in the upper left, and hotel destination is in the circle at the lower right. It wasn't that bad, but it started to get a little hilly. I couldn't see an open cab though! Finally I caught one unloading at Broadway, so I had walked about 1.3 miles, according to Google maps.
I noticed that the gas prices were "only" $2.99 for unleaded! That's only $0.20 - $0.25 more than Austin. I thought gas was more expensive out here. I remember when I visited San Jose for previous ELSA job gas was at least 2x the TX price.

Cali has a 32 cent tax per gallon on top of "normal" taxes that most states don't have. That's one of the reasons they typically have higher gas prices. If you get a chance read the pump.
Gas has dropped to 2.49/g here. I hope it keep dropping.
I remember when I left Austin it was 1.32/g. I remember back then thinking that was a little high. :)
Man I miss those days...
Oh... that was in Dec of 2001 BTW...
Gas here in the frozen oil fields of the north (not the FAR north, such as Alaska... just north) gas is going for approx $2.66/gal as of the last time i filled up a couple of days ago.
