First weekend in Singapore

Saturday morning: I have to do a little homework, but then I'm going to Chinatown via rapid transit today. I was planning on going to Malaysia to some of the hypermarkets, but I've heard too much from the locals about knife-point muggings, having AIDS-infected needles held against your throat and general shadiness. Do I really need a $2 DVD that much? Probably not.

Last night I just ate at the hotel, which had a nice buffet with local specialities (Chinese, Indian, Malay, etc). Extremely delicious, but Sing$60 after taxes (they called it "$30 triple plus" - three taxes).

Oh, the other day when we ate Indian food for lunch I was with three of the guys from this office - Chinese, two Indian. I ate hotter stuff (I ate the peppers) than what he could do so he bestowed upon me the title of Guru.

Charlie said this site would be entertaining, and unlike with his unctuous endorsement of Million Dollar Baby, he was correct.

You still look like a grub - and a happy grub at that. And what manner of deceit did you pull off to be sent over there to "work" for pay? Unbeliveable. Makes me think it must be a government job.

Hope all is well for you and yours.

Take care.
